Dreamweaver Introduction

Bernie Russell
Content
This is a two-day course designed to train people in the use of the web-authoring program, Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Who should attend
The course is for anyone working on, or planning to work on, a web-based publication; or who is interested in building a web site; or who wants to add to their skills portfolio.

Qualifications
Please note this is an introductory course and therefore it is assumed that students will have little or no knowledge of Dreamweaver or similar programs. However, students should be familiar with Windows or the Mac OS, and with the standard point-and-click, drag-and-drop interface of programs like MS Word.

They should be familiar with basic file management, and directory structure.
They should have a basic knowledge of HTML, which should include the ability to use HTML to set up a web page, and should be conversant with the use of tables, image insertion, colour, fonts and basic text formatting tags.

Expected learning outcomes Students will become familiar with the Dreamweaver interface, and will be able to customise its appearance to suit their requirements.
They will be able to use Dreamweaver to create and modify a basic web site, and to edit and modify an already existing web site.
They will be able to progress to the Intermediate and Advanced Dreamweaver courses.

PLEASE NOTE:
For students to get the most out of this course they do need to have the basic HTML knowledge specified in the outline above. If they do not, we strongly recommend that they attend the NUJ’s Introduction to on-line publishing course first at it covers basic knowledge of HTML.
